The Lord's Prayer - What does it Mean?
Scripture of the week: Luke 11: 1-13
Message: The Lord's Prayer. We recite it every Sunday. But have you ever stopped to think about what it means? Jesus taught it for the first time to his disciples when they asked him to teach them to pray and we are still repeating it today. Look at each line on its own and read a brief explanation below it. Think about what it is saying and talk about it with your family. It is a very special prayer and we must always remember how important it is to learn it, say it, and believe it.
OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN
Our Father who is in heaven
HALLOWED BE THY NAME
Your name is holy
THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE
You have promised us eternal life in Your kingdom of heaven and
ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
If it is Your will, anything You can do in Heaven can be done here on earth
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD
Be with us each day and provide us what we need
AND FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES
Forgive us for our wrongdoing
AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US
And we promise to forgive others who do us wrong
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION
Help us to always do what is right and avoid being tempted by evil
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL
Keep us safe from Satan by stepping in when we are going astray
FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM AND THE POWER AND THE GLORY FOREVER
You are our King, our leader and we will worship you forever
AMEN
So be it
Have a blessed week.
